Elective

9 am - 6 pm $499 + $75 kit

Instructor: Christine Dhein

Add exciting and fun textures to the surfaces of your work. Learn a wide range of ways to add depth, color, texture, patterns and drama with techniques including Japanese dot and foil inlay, roller printing, embossing, fusing, subtraction, hammering, stamping, punching, patinas and more. Begin by making a "texture sampler" on copper to keep for a reference. Using this as the foundation for a piece of jewelry, learn to combine metal with rubber and other non-traditional materials to make a pendant or bracelet using basic and advanced cold joining techniques. Learn to make simple, flush, countersunk and ball rivets, as well as spacing and tube rivets. Instruction includes step-by-step methods for basic tool making and creating a drilling jig.  Prerequisite: Fabrication 1 or experience. 24 hours

This elective will not be offered this semester. Please check back next term.
