Instructor: Michael David Sturlin
Forging is the most direct and oldest metal forming technique. In forging, a hammer is used to change the thickness and shape of metal. An essential skill for goldsmiths and jewelry makers, forging enables the smith to shape and stretch metal into different forms. Watch and learn how to hold a hammer and use it properly. Expert instruction is followed by your own hands-on exploration of the process. Learn to feel comfort and control using a hammer, anvil, and mandrel as you create classic and original bracelet forms in copper and silver. Discover the pleasure and creative potential in the elegantly natural forms achievable through hammering. 16 hours
This elective will not be offered this semester. This semester we are offering Forged Rings.
