Learn this dramatic, yet simple, Korean surface technique of bonding thin pure gold to silver. The one-day class covers every step in the process of preparation (depletion silvering) and then applying pure gold through heat and pressure. Keum-boo offers beautiful textural and graphic possibilities, opening a whole palette of effects to explore, as well as enhancing the perceived value of silver jewelry. Students fabricate dangle earrings and a hollow pendant in sterling, both embellished with pure gold surface patterns. Instruction also covers applying gold to Argentium® sterling, fine silver and metal clay. Prerequisite: Fabrication 1 or experience. 8 hours
