Elective

9 am - 6 pm $185 + $25 kit

Instructor: Michael David Sturlin

We all use a jeweler’s saw for many steps in making jewelry. Through the process of piercing, goldsmiths can delicately pierce intricate and complex designs in metal. Aside from being an essential skill for all metal artists, piercing is not the only task accomplished with a saw. Others include filing and engraving with a saw blade. In this class students learn to layout precise designs directly on metal and to transfer printed designs from paper, as they learn to perfect their skills. Students practice in copper and brass and then execute a complex pierced pendant in fine silver. 8 hours

This elective will not be offered this semester. Please check back next term.
