Instructor: Michael David Sturlin
Sawing and piercing are more than just a way to cut metal. These techniques, when fully explored and mastered, open great opportunities for creativity, technical virtuosity and design in jewelry. Starting with a single piece of silver, learn to layout, saw, pierce, file and form an intricate, three-dimensional pendant and bail. Instruction includes basic and advanced piercing on flat and domed forms, tricks for forming pierced sheet, and how to create scalloped and decorative edges for jewelry designs. Prerequisite: Fabrication 1. 8 hours
