2008 Masters Symposium
with Kent Raible
| April 6-10, 2009 from 9 am - 5 pm | $899 + kit |

Granulation is the ancient technique of surface embellishment using tiny spherical granules of gold. One of today’s modern masters of granulation, Kent Raible, leads this hands-on survey of the complete process of granulation. Through lectures, demonstrations and lots of time at the bench, you will gain experience at every step in the process. Learn how to alloy a special 18k gold for granulation, then pour ingots for wire and sheet, make, apply, and fuse granules, and finish your work. Students design and create one or more pieces to take home. Gold will be available for purchase. Prerequisite: Fabrication 3 or experience.

Kent Raible is a German-trained master goldsmith specializing in 18k gold granulation. He has gained international prominence for his elaborate jewelry and objects, which are included in major collections, such as the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC.
