Learn the ancient techniques of chasing & repoussé from an Italian-trained master silversmith. Repoussé and chasing form a two-step process for shaping and embellishing metal with raised bas-relief designs. The fluid and dimensional qualities achieved can be a captivating and dramatic addition to your work. This class focuses on understanding and then utilizing the plasticity of metal. Learn how to shape and mold metal surfaces to incorporate into your jewelry. Traditional techniques are presented along with an overview of tools and materials, all with an Italian cultural and historical perspective. Watch frequent demonstrations, execute a series of graduated projects and immerse yourself in metal. Open to all levels.

Davide Bigazzi spent his early teens as apprentice to Bino Bini, the celebrated Florentine metalsmith and sculptor. During that period Davide assisted in commissions for the Vatican, banks, and churches. Davide’s handcrafted jewelry and holloware are a blend of contemporary artistry and old world craftsmanship that echoes back to his native Florence. Visit dbcollection.net.
