Learn to work with steel and use it in your jewelry. Beginning with a historical look at the myriad ways steel has been incorporated into jewelry, the class includes a complete lesson in working with this incredible, and incredibly under-utilized metal. Soldering, cold connections, forming and even hot-forging will be covered in this fast paced workshop. Learn about the distinct types of steel and how each can best be used in jewelry. Students design and make a brooch with steel. Prerequisite: Fabrication 1 or experieince.
