Revere @ Manika
Juried Exhibition, co-sponsored by Revere Academy and Manika Jewelry
Venue: Manika Jewelry, 11 Maiden Lane, San Francisco
Exhibition dates: Apr 13-23, 2012

Prospectus: All current and past students of the Revere Academy are invited to submit a collection of their work for review and exhibition at Manika Jewelry. The ten-day exhibition, Revere @ Manika, will be held during Revere Academy’s 2012 Masters Symposium.

Up to ten past Revere students will show a collection of 10-20 pieces in an individually labeled display. This is an excellent way to gain a front door on San Francisco's chic Maiden Lane, off of Union Square for ten days. Participants will also be considered for future exhibition at Manika Jewelry.

Gallery owner Peter Walsh and the Academy's Director, Alan Revere, will look for original jewelry that is professional, well designed and well crafted. Artists are responsible for shipping work insured BOTH WAYS to and from the gallery. Work will be accepted on memo and insured on the premises. Artist receives 47.25% of suggested retail price: this takes into account a 5% donation of all sales to Made by Survivors, split equally between artist and Manika Jewelry.

Gallery will host the Opening Reception on April 13, 2012, in conjunction with the Jewelry Artisans Collective (JAC) Design Project, Don't Call it Frisco.

Entry Fee: $25

Eligibility: Must be a current or past student of Revere Academy.

How to Apply:  Online application at callforentry.org. (CAFE) starting February 7, 2012. Registration on CAFE is required. Applicants must answer two essay questions and submit 10 digital images representing a body of work that is available for exhibition (sketches of work in progress not acceptable). Images must be JPG (saved as Baseline Standard, sRGB color space), measure 1920 pixels on the longest side, and not exceed 1.8 MB in size.

Deadline: Feb 26, 2012 at 11:59pm (MST)

Notification: via email by March 2, 2012

Accepted work to arrive at Manika: Apr 2, 2012

ABOUT MANIKA JEWELRYPeter Walsh

The son of the former director of the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, Peter inherited an eye for the exceptional and applied it to jewelry. In the 1990's he opened and managed a highly successful jewelry gallery with local San Francisco designer, Harry Mason.

After several years working in the non-profit sector, Peter and his wife Monica opened Manika Jewelry in 2006 and only two years later received the JCK Magazine First Place award for Best Independent Retailer. Peter has made supporting local artists like Sarah Graham and Rebecca Overmann a foundational part of his business model because he believes in the value of supporting the local economy.

Being socially responsible in business and with a Master's Degree in Psychology, Peter has developed his own style of selling based on genuine service and natural enthusiasm. He is also a sales trainer and retail consultant to other businesses.
