Class Description
Nature is an unlimited resource for artistic ideas that are especially applicable to jewelry. Observe the natural beauty in leaves, branches,
and natural forms and then learn how to use a hammer and othersimple tools to replicate nature. Learn the basics of smithing (or hammering), fold forming, and shell forming. Instruction will also cover making a spiculum, small-scale forging using pliers, and designing
from nature by applying the Golden Mean. Students are encouraged to bring natural forms to replicate or use as inspiration for a finished pendant or brooch to be completed in class. Prerequisite: Fabrication 1 or experience.

MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Curtis is a studio artist in San Francisco who uses
