Zougan-Japanese Inlay with Naohiro Yamada
April 14-18
$1299 + kit

Samurai warriors during the Edo era demanded durability and functionality in their swords, but they also took pride in the appearance. Over a long period, Japanese metalsmiths developed refined techniques for inlay embellishment of these treasured weapons. The same techniques can be applied to jewelry. Here is a very rare chance to learn several styles of Zougan (Japanese inlay) including Nunome (tiny cross-hatching), Sen (wire inlay), Men (sheet inlay) and Marusen (dot inlay) using traditional tools and

methods. Plus, learn Japanese techniques of surface treatments to enhance the color and texture of your projects. Students with previous experience will learn more difficult techniques including inlay into iron. Open to all levels. Naohiro will also teach Hori - Japanese Engraving, April 21-25 and Advanced Hori & Zougan, April 26-27
